Subject: Black Hills
The day after my tour of Wind Cave, I drove up
into Custer State Park in the middle of the Black Hills of South Dakota to
check out the wildlife and do some hiking. I did a short little hike up
to an old fire tower, and at the top, I could smell the smoke from the fires
in Wyoming.
After that hike, I drove one of the scenic routes
through the park.....
Decided to hike a trail called Lovers Leap, after
a story about a young Indian couple who supposedly jumped from the rocks at
the top of the hike. The first part of the hike was right up the
side of the mountain to the rocks, and then from there it descended into a
small valley with a stream.
It was a great hike, took about 3-4 hours, if you
are ever there I highly recommend it.
