I am taking a leave of absence from corporate life! I don't know
exactly
how long, but I am thinking around a year or so. My plan is to head
out
West in a VW Vanagon Westfalia camper van. Along the way I
want to visit
as many people as I can, spend as much time as possible exploring both
cities and the wilderness, do some photography and writing, and then find
somewhere cool to live out West for a while so that I can backpack and
Snowboard. In the middle of that I plan on attending the Burning Man
festival in Black Rock dessert. My last day of work is next Friday,
May
4th. I'll be in Richmond for a week or so after that wrapping things
up
here, and then to my parents for a week or so to finish outfitting for the
trip. The rough itinerary looks like this: Head up through the
Northeast,
across to Michigan, through the Midwest to Montana, down to Nevada and New
Mexico, up through Utah and California to the Pacific Northwest. Of
course
this is all subject to change. Once I find a place I will probably
get some
kind of menial job full or part time to cover things like lift tickets
(I'm
kind of hoping for a job in a bookstore or a recordstore). I will
have a
laptop computer with me, so I will be able to stay in touch with the world
through e-mail, and I am in the process of building a webpage to chronicle
my travels. Once those are finalized in the next week or two, I will
be
sending out my new e-mail address, and web page address. I look
forward to
seeing as many of you as possible along the way (as my schedule gets a
little more resolve, I'll let you know when I expect to be in your area)
and
at the very least sharing the adventure via the web and e-mail. Hope
all is
well, and I will talk to you soon!
